Family Photo Point-and-Name
Children look at photos of familiar people and favorite logos, pointing to and naming what they recognize.

Materials
- Printed photos of familiar people, pets, and places
- A simple homemade photo book or sturdy album
- Optional cards with familiar logos or signs
Steps
- Open the book and point to a familiar face, naming the person.
- Ask, "Who is that?" and wait for the child to point, sign, or name.
- Celebrate each recognition and add a little more, "Yes, that's Grandma!"
- Show a familiar logo or sign and talk about where they have seen it.
- For older toddlers, point to the first letter of the child's name.
Variations
- Make a photo book of classroom friends and look at it together.
- Take a neighborhood walk and spot familiar signs and logos.
Differentiation
- For younger children, use a few large, clear photos of closest people.
- For older toddlers, introduce naming letters in their own name.
Accessibility
- Use large, high-contrast images and tactile symbols for children with vision differences.
- Accept signs, vocalizations, or AAC selections as recognition.
Safety
- Use sturdy pages or laminated photos that withstand handling and mouthing.
